There have been enough instances where people who had not purchased the insurance, and had to cancel, lost all their money. The insurance is more than trip cancellation. One year, a dancer was delayed by airline problems. It took her three days to join the cruise and, since she had not purchased this insurance, she had to pay hotel and meal costs for that time. Had she bought the insurance it would, not only have reimbursed her for all those expenses, she would have received a rebate of the value of the days on the cruise that she missed.
